Otherwise if you’re here I’m sure you know and are just as upset about the flawed ticket lottery system as I am. You are not alone. I know we have all been going to Burning Man for years, we were super excited as always but got screwed out of a Burning Man 2012 ticket by the geniuses at Burning Man.
For me this was going to be my 5th year and what I was calling my Graduation Year. I’ve been looking forward to 2012 since my first Burn in 2008 just for the fact that it is 2012. Too bad the theme and tickets failed and my excitement was all crushed.
The lottery and STEP Program were both a fail.
No but really, I’m sure I’ll somehow find a ticket(do you have one?) and end up going because I really want to.




Burners Without Tickets STEP?

Remember that survey that was supposed to have nothing to do with our chances of getting a ticket? Well obviously the correlation of virgins and 2nd year attendees getting tickets to Veteran Burners not getting tickets shows that was not such an anonymous survey. I mean entire camps of 30 to 50 people and not a single person gets a ticket? Yet virgins are getting tickets left and right? How is this possible?

So how or why did they do this to us? Burning Man Tickets claim that because it sold out last year they were instating a lottery system to prevent scalpers in 2012. I see through that. The lottery system reduced all of our chances of getting tickets, increased the prices of tickets and left Burning Man to be the main scalpers.
What in that system would stop scalpers from buying those tickets?

They are such scalpers that they even did a presale sale at $420 a ticket knowing they can price gouge and rip people off. What is this? How is that fair?
What happened to the prepared and first come first serve? Sure it sold out last year but mostly everyone I knew still got their tickets as always. The only people who did not are the people that waited till July to buy. That’s the way of the road.

How did any of this prevent scalping? All I see it did was increase the price of tickets. If Burning Man really wanted to prevent scalping they would just make tickets non transferable and fully refundable if you can’t make it. Simple as that. Like airline tickets, can’t scalp those! This wasn’t about helping us though, it was about putting more money in their pockets and pretending to be helpful. They are also introducing the STEP program(Burning Man ticket info) as if that would prevent scalpers. What stops scalpers from buying tickets there? NOTHING! YOU FOOLS!

So who’s going to be at Burning Man this year if no one got Burning Man tickets? Entire Theme Camps left out to dry. Virgins getting Burning Man tickets left and right. Scalpers getting the rest. Who is going to provide? Will there be art cars? How are the major Theme Camps handling this devastating setback?

Since most reports are of less than 30% of camps getting Burning Man tickets I would like to see those people bail on Burning Man and entire Theme Camps vanish. We should show Burning Man who makes the Burn. All they do is provide the permit for Black Rock City. Burners provide everything else. What are all those virgins gonna do out there in the desert? Have frat kegger parties in the dust?
I’ve already heard rumors that large scale sound camps and major theme camps where most of the key players, DJ’s, artist and the majority of the camps did not get Burning Man tickets are planning major alternatives so maybe something new will come of this.
I guess it all matches the 2012 Theme of Fertility 2.0. Birth of the Anti Burning Man. A project bringing us together to create something better.

Very few of you(especially the ones who weren’t going anyways) are saying “if you want to go you will go”. Sure, but when you have a group of 30+ and it’s up in the air like that and going will cost thousands upon thousands more it’s not as easy as manifest destiny or whatever you hippies are trying to say.

Burning Man Tickets STEP Program

Burning Man has openly admitted they messed up big time with the ticket lottery system. Burning Man realized that the theme camps that make the Burning Man event worth going to don’t have tickets. Because none of the major theme camps got enough tickets to Burning Man the March Ticket Sale has been canceled. Meaning most people now have zero chance to get a ticket! They will sell the remaining 10,000 tickets to theme camps at the highest tiered price. Scalpers!

They still have the STEP (Secure Ticket Exchange Program) but it’s already a mess and pretty much done. They said it would open up for registration Friday March 2nd(today) but they sent out an email only 50 minutes BEFORE the program opened basically explaining they are closing it the moment they open it. Only allowing 2,000 people to sign up and giving NO WARNING other than the 50 minute prior email that most people missed.
So STEP is a fail. They claim to have a “few hundred” tickets in the HAVE section but obviously that’s not going to cut it.
Burning Man is indeed a thing of the past for most long time Burning Man Event Attendees. Aka Burners.

At this point Burning Man makes me want to get as many tickets as I can to scalp them myself! I mean look at what you’re promoting! I hope someone burns The Man early. Last year was surely better and I heard Daft punk isn’t even gonna show this year.
