Ron Dellums responds to Oakland RiotsFirst I shall say that this post has nothing to do with the actual crime behind the riots. This is not about Oscar Grant or the BART Police officer who shot and or murdered him. People have reason to be outraged, but we have tons more reasons that effect us directly, have been largely ignored and going on for decades. I’m glad at least this got you guys together to speak up.
But I do I think last night was completely uncalled for.

Don’t get me wrong. I think we should have the right to assemble. But when people start breaking innocent business owners property, burning cars and hurting others… then you can not assemble.
Last night was like a sideshow without cars. Not a protest.

Most of the true protesters went home before all this started.
The kids or whatever you want to call them started gathering and acting fools.
Seems they had a few ill minded ring leaders wearing mask acting as if they were genuine to the cause. I bet they were Provocateur Agents. White people in mask rioting? LOL Definition Agent Provocateur
Yeah sure, some of them could have been genuine and wanting to hide their identity from work or whatever. But read about these agents. They do exist.

We gotta remember, our very own government puts people into crowds to instigate this sort of situation.
If you have masses of people protesting in a peaceful manor then they really can not do anything. They WANT you to act up, they can’t wait for you to give them the green light so they can go in and break you up and discredit your peaceful intent with acts of violence.
So they throw some of these agents in to start the actions and then all the youngsters follow making YOU the protesters the bad guys.

Also…. FUCK THE POLICE? Yelling that over and over? Really? For one, BART Police was involved in this shooting, not Oakland Police. OPD is out there risking their lives so you can be safe. Because trust me, without them people would be killing each other at much higher rates. This picture here shows a cop stuck doing something I’m sure he does not want to be part of. Because it is his job. To protect us. And last night we needed to be protected from idiots. Business owners are very thankful that the police were there to stop further damage from the “community”.

See what I’m saying here? Don’t fuck up your city cause a few insiders start it off. Stop them. Remain on a peaceful message. Control those around you, isolate the who-riders and let them know they are alone in committing their crimes. All this bullshit talk about “community” from angry “members” of the “black community” then you go destroy your own community. WTF?
What would Ron Dellums do?

Oakland is Proud. Act like it.

Power To The Peaceful 2012

You can listen to Michael Franti while reading this article by clicking the player to the left.
As you all know Power To The Peaceful was canceled (or as they said rescheduled) in 2011 with claims of bigger badder better coming in 2012.

Power To The Peaceful is a free event and attracted up to 80,000 people in 2010 which was it’s 12th year in a row before it took it’s first “break” in 2011. However now that 2012 is here everyone wants to know…. What’s the date for Power To The Peaceful 2012? When is Power To The Peaceful?

Well they have not updated the website at all but if you are able to find their Facebook or Twitter you would have noticed a small post on January 1st announcing that the Power To The Peaceful 2012 Date is Saturday September 8th 2012.

Well National Night Out was a success. Oakland had over 400 Block Parties organized by local community residents. These people took the courage to go out and do it and make it happen for the rest of their neighborhoods. We thank you all for doing it and showing that we DO have neighbors that care and we CAN be friends and look out for each other. Thank you all! Remember, Oakland is Proud!

Below are photos and video of the Champion Street Block Party Organizer Carolyn Vallerga with the Oakland Police Department and Karis Griffin from the Oakland Parks and Recreations Department.

Travis Air Show 2012

Well here it is 2012 and I can’t find any information at all leading to a 2012 Travis Air Force Base Air Show or Air Expo.
Their site is down, the Thunderbirds do not have Travis AFB listed as a show and I can’t seem to find any information on any other airshow list on the web.
They have also closed the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/tafbca. And the old site has expired. http://travisairexpo.com/

Air Shows

This airshow looks like a great alternative if you want one like the old Travis Air Show.
California Capitol Airshow at Mather Airport in Sacramento.
It takes place on September 8th and 9th.

And we still have San Francisco Fleet Week 2012.

If you find out any info or know something that I do not please let me know! I’m as bummed as you are.

Update: The Blue Angels appearance at San Francisco Fleet Week 2013 has been canceled due to the Blue Angles being grounded the rest of the 2013 Air Show Season.
This is the first time I have ever seen this happen and it is a terrible thing.
Why don’t we just cancel the war and save money that way instead of cutting budgets here in the US?
