Artist Scott Weaver’s amazing piece “Rolling Through the Bay”, a toothpick Rube Goldberg machine was made with over 100,000 toothpicks over the course of 35 years. he started it in 1974. It is a depiction of San Francisco, with multiple ball running “tours” to different parts of the city. It will be on display in the Tinkering Studio at the Exploratorium until the end of June.

Wow this is such a trip! Have you ever seen anything weirder? Does it almost seem unreal?
Do you wonder if other graffiti artist consider this rude and disrespectful because he covers hundreds of other pieces and tags?
Maybe he uses more of a chalk and that will all wash away soon?

So this guy seems to be on a whole nother level! I mean really have you ever seen anything like this? He creates bad ass beats with a laid out guitar as if it were some turntables and he loops, distorts and tweeks with his feet! You HAVEEEE to check his stuff out. I saw him last night at Speak The Music and bought both of his CD’s. I can’t even play the second one because the first one is too bad ass to take out. Here is a video but check him out.

Oakland Art Murmur First Fridays

The Oakland Art Murmur takes place every month on the first Friday. It is spread out across different art galleries in Oakland with the majority of them being near Telegraph and Grand Avenue. It is a place where you can walk from gallery to gallery and enjoy fresh exhibits, art, clothing articles and other local artist created things. You can even drink in the galleries! Wine tasting is often abundant.
Rock Paper Scissors Collective
Friday, July 18th, 2008Rock Paper Scissors Collective (RPS) is a local establishment. They are volunteer ran and put on art shows, give work shops and other activities that can help them give back into the community. They are also a consignment store if you make your own clothes, art and so on you should look into selling through their storefront on Telegraph. They are also a participant in the Oakland Art Murmur which takes place on the first Friday of every month.
